PSU Phuket opens University of Hyogo Thailand office to boost Thai-Japanese academic collaboration

The University of Hyogo, Japan, has officially established its Thailand Office in collaboration with Prince of Songkla University (PSU), with financial support from the University of Hyogo and office space provided by PSU Phuket Campus. The office serves as a coordination hub for education, research, and bilateral cooperation, promoting academic collaboration and short-term exchange programs between Thailand and Japan.

The University of Hyogo Thailand Office aims to expand opportunities for Thai students to participate in short-term programs in Japan (10–15 days), in coordination with Japanese partner institutions. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the University of Hyogo and gain first-hand academic and cultural experience, supporting preparation for undergraduate and postgraduate studies, as well as language, cultural, and essential skill development.

Both universities are committed to fostering educational and cultural exchange between Thailand and Japan, with the goal of extending cooperation to economic and social development in Southern Thailand and Hyogo Prefecture. The office also functions as a coordination center for individuals and organizations interested in investment or international collaboration projects, with plans to expand its network to other institutions in the future.

Thai students will also have opportunities to join credit-transfer exchange programs at the University of Hyogo, with program durations of one academic semester or longer. These programs are designed to enhance creativity, essential skills, and life experience, enabling participants to contribute meaningfully to Thai society upon their return.

In addition, the office supports joint research initiatives among faculty members, researchers, and staff from both countries, including the development of a Visiting Professor Program for Thai academics conducting research at the University of Hyogo. The office also opens opportunities for university staff and external professionals to participate in exchange activities and programs in Japan, further strengthening long-term academic and institutional collaboration.
