
On 9 October 2025, Prince of Songkla University (PSU) had the honor of welcoming H.E. Mr. Patrick Bourne, Ambassador of Ireland to Thailand, along with a diplomatic entourage comprising Ms. Michelle Doherty, Political Counsellor and Consul; and Mr. Phee Chayakul, Office Manager and Consular Supervisor during their official visit to PSU’s Hat Yai Campus.
The delegation was warmly received by PSU President Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub and team. The meeting, held at the President’s Office Building, focused on exploring academic collaborative opportunities between Irish higher education institutions and PSU.



Following the meeting, the Ambassador and his delegation visited the Faculty of Medicine on potential cooperation in medical research and education.





In the afternoon, the delegation engaged in discussions with Prof. Virasakdi Chongsuvivatwong, followed by a visit to the Faculty of Liberal Arts. The delegation then proceeded to the PSU Science Park, where they participated in an interview arranged by PSU Broadcast, Global Affairs and Corporate Communication Center, and toured the facilities of the Science Park.



This visit marked an important step in strengthening educational and cultural ties between Thailand and Ireland, paving the way for future collaborations in teaching, research and student exchange.
