Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Phuket Campus, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thongchumnum, Vice President of PSU Phuket, held the opening ceremony of the Songklanagarind Digital Dental Center: SDDC Phuket. The event was presided over by Mr. Sophon Suwannarat, Governor of Phuket Province, with distinguished guests including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Udompol Puechpaiboon, Vice President for Human Resources and Special Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thongchai Thitasomgkul, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Setthakorn Pongpanich, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist, alongside representatives from government, private sector, and media. The ceremony took place at the SDDC Phuket, Saphan Hin, Mueang District, Phuket, on September 1, 2025.

The center was established to serve as a foundation for developing human capital in modern dentistry, driven by dental faculty members of PSU who provide advanced academic knowledge and hands-on training across all specialties—general dentistry, orthodontics, prosthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, implantology, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder management.

With significant investments in state-of-the-art digital dental technologies, SDDC Phuket has become a leading hub for dental education, patient care, oral health rehabilitation, and disease prevention at international standards. Patients can expect high-quality, advanced treatments at affordable costs—meeting the growing demand for oral health as longevity increases and quality of life becomes more vital.

The center’s mission goes beyond training new dentists proficient in digital technologies. It also seeks to elevate Thailand’s overall dental care services, supporting international patients visiting Phuket. The facility employs cutting-edge technologies such as 3D intraoral scanning (eliminating traditional impressions), computer-assisted implant surgery planning, 3D radiography for precision diagnosis, CAD/CAM systems, and 3D printing for in-house fabrication of dental prosthetics—allowing certain treatments to be completed in just one day.

Importantly, SDDC Phuket is the first in Thailand to accommodate elderly and wheelchair-bound patients with Wheelchair Base dental chairs, enabling treatment without requiring transfers. It is also equipped with Negative Pressure Rooms for infectious disease cases (e.g., COVID-19, tuberculosis), ensuring safe infection control.

The center is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., accepting appointments via phone, Facebook page, email, and walk-ins. To mark its launch, it is offering a 15% service discount throughout 2025.

Looking ahead, SDDC Phuket aims to position itself as a tertiary-level dental referral hub for complex cases across the Andaman region. With a full team of dental specialists and advanced digital technologies, the center ensures equitable access to high-standard care for all age groups. This development also strengthens Phuket’s role as a premier destination for Medical & Dental Tourism in Thailand.
