CWIE supervisor training program “Leadership for the Modern Workforce” organized by PSU

Prince of Songkla University (PSU), through the Office of Education and Learning Innovation, in collaboration with the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), and the Southern CWIE Network, organized a workshop for CWIE supervisors under the revised 2023 curriculum titled “Leadership: Developing Supervisors for the Modern Era.”

The training aimed to enhance the knowledge, understanding, and skills of workplace mentors responsible for supervising cooperative education students. It focused on strengthening their ability to manage CWIE (Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education), an educational model that blends classroom learning with real-world experience in professional environments. This approach equips students with both technical and workplace skills, aligning their competencies with current labor market demands.

The workshop was presided over by Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President of Prince of Songkla University, and featured a keynote address by Dr. Orasa Phawawimon, former Deputy Secretary-General of the Office of the Higher Education Commission, on the topic “CWIE Platform: A New Mechanism for National Workforce Development.” Additional sessions were led by experienced CWIE practitioners from both within and outside the university. The training took place on September 8, 2025, at the Crystal Hotel, Hat Yai, Songkhla Province.

Workplace supervisors play a vital role in ensuring the success of work-integrated education by providing guidance, monitoring progress, and assessing student performance. Their mentorship helps students transition confidently into professional roles as competent, high-quality contributors to society.
