PSU “Hub of Knowledge” launched to drive sensor technology innovation

Prince of Songkla University (PSU), through its Faculty of Science in collaboration with the Center of Excellence in Chemical and Biological Sensor Technology, organized a knowledge transfer and training event under the theme “Innovation in Chemical and Biological Sensor Technology for Quality of Life and Sustainability.” The event took place on October 3, 2025, at EILA 5, Learning Resources Center (LRC1), and the Smart Classroom, Faculty of Science, PSU Hat Yai Campus. The program featured lectures, panel discussions, and hands-on workshops focused on transforming research outcomes into real-world applications.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Asst. Prof.  Sunton Wongsiri,M.D., Vice President for Research and Innovation, with welcome remarks by Prof. Dr. Anchana Prathep, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and an opening report by Prof. Dr. Orawon Chailapakul, Director of the Center. Their addresses emphasized the vision of building a “Hub of Knowledge” a collaborative platform connecting researchers, students, private sector representatives, and civil society nationwide to advance intelligent sensor and biosensor technologies.

The event featured academic presentations and expert panels from multiple institutions, including Chiang Mai University, Ubon Ratchathani University, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, and private sector representatives such as Silicon Craft Technology PLC. Topics highlighted the practical relevance of sensor technology, with case studies ranging from forensic science applications to the development of an innovative “Battery-Free Smart Water Card” for drinking water quality assessment.

Participants also engaged in a “Coffee Lab” session for informal knowledge exchange and live demonstrations of advanced research instruments, including portable potentiostats. These activities showcased the practical potential of sensor research and its capacity for real-time application. The event fostered a collaborative research network, academic dialogue, and inspiration for the next generation of innovators in sensor technology.

This conference marks a significant step forward in uniting all sectors to drive Thailand’s scientific and innovation ecosystem. The initiative aims to establish the Hub of Knowledge for Chemical and Biological Sensor Technology as a central platform for research collaboration, contributing to social well-being, environmental protection, and sustainable economic growth.
