The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), founded in 1949, is China’s leading institution for scientific research and education. Operated under the Chinese government, CAS plays a vital role in driving technological progress, pioneering fundamental research, and fostering scientific innovation. Its work spans a wide range of cutting-edge fields—from physics, chemistry, and materials science to space technology, biomedicine, pharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, and smart vehicle development.
CAS also plays a key role in guiding and supporting research universities and innovation institutes across China. To strengthen scientific and technological ties with the ASEAN region, CAS established the Chinese Academy of Sciences Innovation Cooperation Center in Bangkok (CASICCB), which serves as a platform for collaboration with ASEAN member countries, including Thailand.
CASICCB has actively entered Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with several leading Thai institutions—among them Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, and Chiang Mai University—to promote academic collaboration and joint initiatives.
