He highlighted the Ministry’s strategic priorities: market-led production, market-led research, competitiveness enhancement, and sustainable, environmentally friendly agriculture. He acknowledged the critical role of education, particularly PSU Pattani in producing the next generation of skilled agricultural professionals who can apply modern knowledge, technology, and innovation to improve productivity and support stable market development.

The Deputy Minister also praised PSU Pattani for its strong agricultural research agenda, which aligns with national policies. He noted that the university’s integrated work with agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has contributed to tangible progress in the agricultural sector of Pattani Province. Key initiatives, such as poverty alleviation through goat–sheep farming models, the development of herbal products, and the enhancement of the blue crab value chain, were highlighted as exemplary models for translating research and innovation into grassroots economic development. The Ministry stands ready to support universities as key drivers in cultivating a new generation of knowledgeable, innovative farmers.

In the same occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Arooneewan Buaniow reiterated that PSU Pattani is the first PSU campus with a core mission focused on integrating academic knowledge, research, and community engagement to uplift the southern border provinces. The campus has implemented numerous agricultural research projects in partnership with government agencies and local communities to transfer knowledge and innovation to farmers from upstream production to downstream processing. Flagship initiatives include the ongoing poverty alleviation program, which promotes agricultural, livestock, and fisheries occupations; and the development of community enterprises such as the Talee Aye Model Farm in Yaring District, where modern herbal cultivation and processing techniques help generate sustainable income.

She affirmed that the university remains committed to collaborating with government agencies, the private sector, and communities to drive socio-economic development and improve quality of life in the southern border region. The Deputy Minister’s visit reflects the strong partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and PSU in leveraging research and innovation to advance agriculture, enhance competitiveness, increase stable income, and raise the overall well-being of farmers toward long-term sustainability.
