Prince of Songkla University, Surat Thani Campus, through the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Management Sciences, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with 21 government agencies, academic institutions, and local network partners to drive the “Healthy Subdistrict Partnership” initiative and prepare communities for an ageing society through the “5A Model” in Khao Phang Subdistrict. The signing ceremony was held on 21 December 2025 at Cheow Lan–Kraisorn Reservoir Playground, Ban Ta Khun District, Surat Thani Province.

The agreement was signed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sakda Kajornbun, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Management Sciences, representing the Vice President of the Surat Thani Campus, together with representatives from 21 partner organizations. The collaboration aims to integrate multi-sectoral efforts to systematically and sustainably prepare Khao Phang Subdistrict for an ageing society.
Participating organizations include local administrative and government agencies, health and social development authorities, educational institutions, security units, environmental agencies, and community organizations, such as district administration offices, municipal authorities, the National Health Commission Office, provincial and district public health offices, Ratchaprapha Dam, national parks and wildlife authorities, agricultural offices, community development agencies, village health volunteers, elderly clubs, and local health-promoting hospitals.

The partnership seeks to advance ageing society preparedness across four key dimensions: health, social, economic, and environmental, in alignment with Thailand’s 3rd National Plan on the Elderly (2023–2037) and the National Health System Charter No. 3 (2022). The initiative is guided by the vision that older persons will enjoy a good quality of life, secure social protection, and play an active role in societal development.
Prince of Songkla University, Surat Thani Campus, will serve as the central coordinating institution, providing academic expertise, facilitating collaboration among partners, and strengthening human resource capacity to promote sustainable development toward a healthy and age-friendly subdistrict. The MOU will be implemented over a five-year period from the date of signing.
