PSU Surat Thani Campus partners with Gammaco to host Southern Regional Robot Olympiad, empowering youth to advance to national championship

Prince of Songkla University, Surat Thani Campus, through the Faculty of Science and Industrial Technology, in collaboration with Gammaco (Thailand) Co., Ltd., organized the opening ceremony of the Southern Regional Robot Olympiad 2025. The event was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Suchada Thipmontri, Vice President for PSU Surat Thani Campus, with an opening report delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yutthapong Pianroj, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Industrial Technology. The competition, held under the theme “The Future of Robots,” aimed to provide a platform for Thai youth to showcase their potential in robotics design and programming. The event took place at the Surat Thani Campus Auditorium on July 26–27, 2025.

This year’s competition brought together over 108 teams from across southern Thailand, divided into three categories:

  • Elementary (under 12 years old): 21 teams
  • Junior High (under 15 years old): 32 teams
  • Senior High (under 19 years old): 55 teams

Participants were challenged to design and program robots capable of completing assigned missions. The winning teams from each category earned the right to advance to the National Robot Olympiad Championship.

The event received strong support from both public and private sectors, including the National Science Museum (NSM), the Office of Knowledge Management and Development (OKMD), and Ichitan Group Public Co., Ltd. Prince of Songkla University, Surat Thani Campus, together with Gammaco (Thailand) Co., Ltd., served as the main hosts of this significant regional competition.
