PSU showcases expertise in Food and Agricultural Innovation at Bahrain International Garden Show 2025

From 19 to 23 February 2025, PSU, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Teerasak Jindabot, Acting Director of the International Affairs and Corporate Communication Center, participated in the Bahrain International Garden Show 2025 (BIGS) to showcase its food and agricultural innovations. The exhibition aimed to demonstrate PSU’s expertise in innovation and expand the market for high-quality Thai food products in Bahrain and the GCC region.  Held at Exhibition World Bahrain (EWB) under the royal patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King of Bahrain, the event brought together government ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, and exhibitors from 23 countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Morocco, Egypt, Kyrgyzstan, Italy, India, Oman, Russia, Greece, the Netherlands, and Japan.

The Bahrain International Garden Show 2025 is organized by the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), a semi-governmental agency dedicated to promoting agriculture and forestry in Bahrain. This prestigious exhibition highlights plants, gardening, agriculture, and food, attracting significant attention and support from the Bahraini royal family. His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa serves as the event’s royal patron.

For Thailand’s participation, the Royal Thai Embassy in Manama organized the Thai Pavilion to showcase the country’s strengths in halal innovation, food, and agriculture. The pavilion embodied the theme “Thainess with Innovation and Creation,” reflecting Thailand’s unique identity alongside its cutting-edge advancements.  A total of 16 Thai government and private sector organizations took part in the exhibition. The Thai Ambassador reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting food exports and advancing the agricultural industry in Bahrain and the GCC region. Additionally, Thailand expressed its dedication to strengthening cooperation with Bahrain in food and agriculture to enhance regional food security.

PSU showcased and presented research-driven products and innovations developed by entrepreneurs with support from the Science Park, Halal Institute, and the Faculty of Thai Traditional Medicine. The exhibition featured a diverse array of products, including herbal-based items, rubber-derived goods, processed seafood, dietary supplements, and natural extract-based cosmetics. The showcase received an overwhelmingly positive response from local visitors and tourists from neighboring countries. Additionally, students and parents showed keen interest in educational opportunities at PSU, actively inquiring about study programs and admissions.

On February 20, 2025, Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of NIAD, and H.E. Ambassador Sumate Chulajata, the Thai Ambassador to Manama, jointly presided over the official opening of the Thai Pavilion at the Bahrain International Garden Show 2025. They also honored PSU’s exhibition with their visit, exploring its showcased innovations and research-driven products.

On February 23, 2025, representatives from the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Bahrain honored PSU’s exhibition with a visit and engaged in discussions on potential collaboration. The Bahraini Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening educational cooperation between PSU and Bahrain.
