Pride of PSU 2025, a low-carbon event, celebrates university founding day by honoring special contributors

On March 13, 2025, PSU hosted the “Pride of PSU 2025” event under the theme of a Low Carbon Event, in celebration of the university’s founding day—an occasion commemorated annually on March 13. The event was held to honor and recognize PSU faculty members, staff, and students whose outstanding achievements have made meaningful contributions to society. The ceremony was presided over by Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President of PSU, who delivered the opening address. A report speech was presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Udomphon Puetpaiboon, Vice President for Human Resources and Special Affairs. The event welcomed the participation of university executives, faculty members, researchers, staff, and students at the International Convention Center (ICC), PSU.

Held annually on March 13, the “Pride of PSU” event commemorates the founding anniversary of PSU. The event serves to honor and pay tribute to the university’s faculty, staff, and students whose exceptional contributions have created a lasting impact on society. In addition to recognizing individuals for their outstanding service to the university, this year’s event featured a keynote address by Mr. Somporn Chaibangyang, a member of the University Affairs Promotion Committee, on the topic: “The Value of Songklanagarind Passed on to Society and Communities.” The celebration also included a student musical performance, the screening of a commemorative video titled “The Value of PSU” and a special session of PSU TALK. The session featured Prof. Dr. Sumate Chaiprapat from the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Chartchai Norasethaporn, Advisor for Sustainable Education and Social Development at Central Group and a proud PSU alumnus.

This year, a total of 11 awards were presented, including the following:

  1. The Blue Jacket Award 2024
  2. Outstanding Faculty Member Awards: Senior and Junior Faculty Members, and Outstanding Works of the Year 2024
  3. Outstanding New Faculty Mentor Award 2024
  4. Outstanding Staff Award of Prince of Songkla University 2024
  5. Outstanding Thesis Advisor Award 2024
  6. Outstanding Student Award for Academic Year 2023
  7. Outstanding Student Award for Academic Year 2024
  8. Top Five Researchers in Health Sciences and Science & Technology (based on the number of publications in Scopus database, 2024)
  9. Top Five Researchers in Humanities and Social Sciences (based on the number of publications in Scopus database, 2024)
  10. Recipients of Scholarly Teacher Level under the PSU Teaching Professional Standards Framework (PSU-TPSF) and those awarded Senior Fellow status under the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF)

Dr. Niwat noted that this year’s event featured a special keynote address, PSU Talk sessions, award presentations, and commemorative souvenirs. He also highlighted that the university holds special celebrations every decade to mark significant milestones. In 2027, PSU will celebrate its 60th anniversary, and an even more grand and memorable event is anticipated to honor this important occasion.

“No matter how many years may pass, PSU will remain an institution committed to evolving with the ever-changing world and advancing technologies. Above all, we will continue to uphold our guiding principles, following in the footsteps of His Royal Highness Prince Mahidol, who inspired us to devote our hearts and minds for the benefit of mankind. We will always strive to be a university that carries forward its values to society and the wider community”, Dr. Niwat concluded.
