On 13 March 2025, PSU President Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Kaewpradub, along with university executives and staff, warmly welcomed H.E. Mr. Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, Ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to Thailand, and Mr. Nirjhar Adhikary, Counsellor, on the occasion of their visit to PSU’s Hat Yai Campus. The visit aimed to discuss the development of educational and research collaboration between PSU and higher education institutions in Bangladesh.
The Ambassador also met PSU’s Bangladeshi students for an iftar gathering, and performed the Maghrib prayer together.
President Niwat stated that the visit of the Ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to Thailand reflects the strong relationship between Thailand and Bangladesh, particularly in the fields of education and research. As committed to the academic excellence, innovative research, and continuous expansion of international collaborations, one of PSU’s proud achievements in strengthening Thai-Bangladeshi relations is its academic and research cooperation with Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Daffodil International University, and the National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM), which are among the leading educational institutions in Bangladesh.
PSU's relationship with Bangladesh is further supported by a strong alumni network. As of now, over 60 Bangladeshi alumni have played significant roles in the development of their country in various fields, such as nursing, epidemiology, engineering, food science and technology, marine and coastal resource management, pharmacy, and sustainable energy management. Additionally, the consistent enrollment of Bangladeshi students at PSU continues to enhance academic collaboration and internationalization. In the future, PSU anticipates an increase in the number of Bangladeshi students joining its academic community.
“This discussion on collaboration serves to strengthen international relations in education and research, as well as to create new cooperative projects in fields that benefit both countries. These efforts will contribute to addressing global challenges, particularly in public health, technology, and environmental sustainability,” Dr. Niwat concluded.
