The Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHSEI) organized an international virtual conference titled “The 1st International Symposium on Earth Space System Frontier Research Thailand 2021” to push Thailand in research planning, knowledge development and space technology innovation to "New Space Economy" or "Space Economy". Adjunct Professor Dr. Anek Laothamatas, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, chaired the event and delivered a keynote speech on the “Role of MHESI in the space technology development for the Future Thai economy”, in the MHSEI press conference room on 24 June 2021.
The event was attended by seven leading universities in the country: Prince of Songkla University, Chiang Mai University, Burapha University, Khon Kaen University, Naresuan University, Suranaree University of Technology, and Mahidol University. PSU Vice President for Research and Innovation Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suntorn Wongsiri, M.D. joined the review of the roadmap to reach projected expectations through knowledge and innovation to provide future opportunities for the Thai economy.
Dr. Suntorn explained that PSU is honored to be a part of this academic conference, an important starting point for knowledge development and the forefront of research in Earth and Space Systems, essential for building the country's resilience against worldwide changes and natural disasters that may occur in the future.
