On February 16, 2024, Asst. Prof. Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs, along with his team, attended a meeting with representatives from more than 30 Thai educational institutions and counterparts from educational institutions in the Kingdom of Cambodia to establish networks and promote the development of quality education for Cambodian youth. The event, organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh, featured an opening ceremony led by H.E. Mr. Cherdkiat Atthakor, the Ambassador of Thailand to Phnom Penh. It included introductory speeches by representatives from various educational institutions and a lecture on visa knowledge, fostering an exchange of insights and expertise. The day concluded with an evening party hosted by the Embassy.
In addition to the meeting of representatives from leading educational institutions from both countries, on February 17, 2024, PSU actively participated in an educational event with the aim of fostering networks and positioning itself as a premier education hub for Cambodian youth. This event took place at the Angkor-Kizuna Hall, Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center at Royal Phnom Penh University (RUPP), attracting leading Thai universities and businesses, boasting over 50 booths. Among the distinguished guests were ministers from the Cambodian government who visited the PSU booth and engaged with Cambodian alumni.
Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Janya Chanchaichujit, Assistant President for Promotion of Foreign Affairs, had the honor of attending a seminar titled "Scholarship Opportunities in Thailand by Leading Thai Universities," alongside representatives from three prestigious universities. PSU proudly acknowledges its substantial number of Cambodian alumni and current students, playing a pivotal role in the accomplishments of Cambodian graduates. The university underscores the significance of scholarships, currently offering over 100 graduate scholarships, including substantial research grants. The event garnered enthusiastic participation from more than 300 Cambodian attendees, who visited the PSU booth to inquire about programs, scholarships, and application procedures. Noteworthy was the invaluable assistance provided by Cambodian alumni and current students, who facilitated conversations with their fellow Cambodians in Khmer, greatly enhancing the overall experience of the event.
Not only did PSU organize educational booth activities, but it also conducted proactive recruitment efforts for the PSU Graduate Studies Scholarships and Admission program. On February 16, 2024, interviews were held for seven Cambodian graduate applicants at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) via Zoom online, with the program committees. The preliminary interview results were promising, indicating a likelihood of acceptance for further study and eligibility to receive the PSU Graduate Studies Scholarships.
