Prince of Songkla University (PSU), through the Center for International Affairs and Corporate Communication, organized the Preparation Course for New International Students for Academic Year 2025 on June 26–27, 2025. The event was held onsite at EILA 5, 8th Floor, LRC Building, Hat Yai Campus, and online via Zoom Meeting. The program aimed to prepare new undergraduate and postgraduate international students from all campuses for successful academic and social life at PSU.
The event was officially opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Janya Chanchaichujit, Assistant President for Promotion of Foreign Affairs, who welcomed the students and introduced the course structure, objectives, and key content.
In addition, the program featured lectures by distinguished speakers covering a wide range of essential and interesting topics, such as: opportunities for scholarships and pathways for graduate study, Thai culture and way of life, basic Thai language, undergraduate study guidelines, higher education learning approaches in Thailand, and research ethics (for Health Sciences, Science & Technology, and Social Sciences & Humanities). Other topics included introduction to the International Student Association, and student activities, healthy body and mind, PSU necessary systems, effective communication in the workplace, PSU for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and database accessibility.
Over 100 international students participated both onsite and online. They came from a diverse range of countries including China, Pakistan, Indonesia, Myanmar, India, Cambodia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Guinea, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Nepal, Burkina Faso, Gambia, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Nigeria, the Philippines, Zimbabwe, and more.
Through this course, students gained essential foundational knowledge for studying in higher education institutions in Thailand. They also developed various learning skills to help ensure timely graduation. Moreover, the event provided an opportunity for cultural exchange and social interaction in a multicultural environment, helping students better understand Thai society and adapt to it smoothly and happily. It also served as a platform to build positive relationships among international students, faculty members, and university staff, fostering a warm and supportive academic environment for future success.
