The PSU-BSU English Camp 2018, held from May 15-27, was once again successful and enjoyable. The camp was organized by the International Affairs Office of Prince of Songkla University (PSU) in collaboration with Ball State University (BSU), USA. 116 PSU students and 16 camp leaders from BSU had English and cultural activities together for 13 days. Participating students thus improved their English proficiency by communicating with native speakers while having fun, making new friends, exchanging cultures and participating in creative activities. In the same way, the American camp leaders did not only enjoy teaching, but also learned about Thailand and Thai culture via various trips in Bangkok, Surat Thani, Krabi, Phang Nga, and Phuket.
Students spent 13 days with the assigned camp leaders learning English both in formal classroom setting and exciting outdoor activities. In Surat Thani, all participants enjoyed watching monkey shows at Monkey Training Center and visiting Sala Artit Garden, and Khamin Cave. In Krabi and Phang Nga, students and camp leaders had a trip to the Andaman Sea’s James Bond Island and Koh Panyee, a 200-year-old floating Muslim fishing village. In Phuket, all participants went to Phuket Bird Park and enjoyed the beautiful view at Phromtep Cape. They ended up the day by relaxing and shopping in Phuket Old Town.
On May 26, the Closing Ceremony was honored by Dr. Worawut Wisutmethangoon, Vice President for PSU Phuket Campus; Dr. Pattara Aiyarak, Vice President for Global Relations and Informatics; Asst. Prof. Dr. Apichat Heednacram, Assistant President for Organizational Relations; and Dr. Kris Rugsaken from Ball State University, who delivered speeches and presented certificates to all participants. The Farewell Party ended up with fascinating performances by all students and camp leaders. The 13-day camp became precious memorable experiences for all participants. Moreover, all PSU students are invited to join the next PSU-BSU English Camp to gain a unique experience and to improve their English skills in a very enjoyable way.
