H.E. Mr. Glyn Davies, Ambassador of the United States of America to Thailand visited PSU on February 24, 2016. Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, Vice President for Planning and Finance, together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Pattara Aiyarak, Vice President for Global Relations and Informatics, welcomed the honorable guest and entourage from the U.S. Embassy.
His Excellency led an engaging interfaith dialogue with PSU's administrators, faculty and students. The audience included notable PSU administrators Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wichai Karnchanasuwan, Director of the Institute of Peace Studies; Asst. Prof. Chidchanok Rahimmula, Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Parit Yinsen, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Mr. Supawatchara Malamond, Dean of the Faculty of Law.
The talks addressed the position of the United States regarding Thailand's current state of affairs, and advice was sought on handling Southern Thailand's insurgency. His Excellency pointed out the power of Southern diversity and the importance of open dialogue in solving internal conflicts. The Ambassador also reiterated the commitment and friendly relations the U.S. has towards Thailand. American elections and Thailand's roadmap to democracy were also discussed.
PSU was honored to receive H.E. Mr. Glyn Davies, and to be selected as the venue for this inspirational exchange of ideas.
