5th PSU Network: PSU joins National Media Network at Surat Thani Campus, showcasing research for society

Prince of Songkla University, through the Global Affairs and Corporate Communication Center (GACC) in collaboration with Surat Thani Campus, organized the 5th PSU Network on Surat Thani Campus from 14–16 January 2026 at PSU Surat Thani Campus and various locations across Surat Thani province. The initiative aimed to provide media partners with direct access to the University’s tangible outcomes particularly research and academic services for communities while strengthening structured collaboration in public communication.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President, together with university executives, staff, students, and media representatives from across Thailand. The strong attendance reflected broad confidence in PSU’s role as a source of knowledge for social development.
The project has been held continuously, rotating among PSU’s five campuses to communicate each campus’s identity, strengths, and development direction, while reinforcing organizational unity. This year, PSU selected Surat Thani Campus as the host venue due to its distinctive strengths in tourism and hospitality management, logistics, and marine environmental studies strategic areas for the long-term development of southern Thailand and the country.
Dr. Niwat stated that the Songklanagarind Relations Network Project seeks to build accurate understanding of PSU’s context and direction, connecting the work of all five campuses through a shared mission to enhance quality of life and promote sustainable social development. He emphasized that mutual learning and engagement with the media will help elevate public communication to be more effective and impactful.
The programme also included a press briefing on the 35th anniversary of PSU Surat Thani Campus, delivered by Assoc. Prof. Suchada Tipmontree, Vice President for Surat Thani Campus. In addition, the University presented outstanding achievements in teaching and learning, research and innovation, and academic services, including award-winning works from Surat Thani Campus across these areas.
Field visits were also arranged to showcase key research and flagship initiatives, such as: research by the Srivijaya Studies Center at Suan Mokkhaphalaram (Chaiya District, Surat Thani); providing entrepreneurship consultation to develop an R&D Blueprint for Viya Crab Products Co., Ltd.; research on food security; mangrove biodiversity restoration; and the development of a community-based tourism enterprise at Ban Koh Raet, Don Sak District, Surat Thani.
This project reaffirmed PSU’s role in translating knowledge into societal impact through close collaboration with the national media network supporting communication that is strong, transparent, and responsive to Thailand’s future development needs.
