A delegation of seven PSU members visited the Center for Global Sustainability Studies (CGSS) of the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) on 28 November 2011. The PSU group was led by Dr. Rotchanatch Darnsawasdi, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Management, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wichien Chatupote, Assistant President for International Affairs. The objective of the visit was to learn about USM’s experience in Sustainable Development (SD) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
In November 2011 PSU applied to become a member of ProSPER.Net, a network for the Promotion of Sustainability in Postgraduate Education and Research, in order to develop more programs in SD and ESD, as well as to address pressing problems that confront the global community, such as climate change, poverty alleviation, and environmental sustainability. USM is already a member of ProSPER.Net and has much experience in these areas.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norizan Md. Nor, Acting Director of the Center for Global Sustainability Studies of the Universiti Sains Malaysia, and his team welcomed our delegation and shared valuable information concerning SD and ESD at USM. The visit met its objective and was an excellent opportunity for PSU and USM to exchange knowledge and experience, and strengthen the relationship between our universities.
